Award-Winning Author; Business, Nonprofit and Public Sector Leader
The Guam Women’s Chamber of Commerce (GWCC) is featuring the Honorable Ember Reichgott Junge, former Minnesota State Senator and author of the nation’s charter law as its guest speaker for its Thursday, May 7 General Membership meeting at The View, located at the Pacific Star Resort & Spa.
Former Senator Junge is author of Minnesota’s 1991 first-in-nation charter school law, a winner of the 2000 Innovations in American Government Award from Harvard University’s JFK School of Government. The 18-year legislator served as Senator Assistant Majority Leader before stepping down from public service.
Junge is President of Ember Communications, Inc., and is a national speaker and trainer on leadership, strategic communications and public services redesign for leaders in business, nonprofit and government sectors. In addition to public service, she draws on over 25 years of experience in business and nonprofit law, 5 years as a nonprofit executive for a large human services organization, and 12 years of media messaging as a frequent television political analyst, former radio host and editorial writer.
Former Senator Junge will be speaking on the role of a business league, such as the Guam Women’s Chamber, in the education of women, gender equality and economic development, in addition to charter school laws. Lou A. Leon Guerrero, Chair of the GWCC, stated, “We are honored to have Senator Junge speak before members of the GWCC. Her extensive experience and education in the business, nonprofit and government sectors brings invaluable perspective to our members.”
A Continental Breakfast will be available beginning at 7:30AM, with the meeting starting at 8AM. The meeting fee is $18.00 for members and $20.00 for non-members. Membership applications will be available at the meeting.
